ARTIST SPOTLIGHT:
MIXED eMOTION THEATRIX

Janet RostonMixed eMotion Theatrix, led by award-winning choreographer, Janet Roston (pictured right), is a Los Angeles based company that uses contemporary and ethnic dance forms, music, theater, film, and multimedia to create a hybrid performance experience for the audience. MeMT is best known for utilizing folk tales, myths, legends, classic literature, new histories, and biographies to tell stories about the human condition.

By creating a shared experience for their audience, MeMT creates a collective community as they inform, educate, and enlighten those lucky enough to witness a live performance.Three productions are currently available: So Now You Know, Anais Nin: Unbound, and Gatsby Redux.

So Now You Know combines dance and theater in a unique storytelling experience where the performers share personal stories in movement and words. So Now You Know creates a connected community of performers in the development process, and can utilize members of your own community in the final product! If you are in the California area, So Now You Know is headed to Truckee, CA in early March and can be seen at the La Mirada Theatre in early April

Anais Nin: UnboundAnais Nin: Unbound seamlessly blends music, dance, and projections throughout the performance to explore the life and work of famed writer, Anais Nin. This distinctive story of Nin's personal and artistic triumph shatters traditional theatrical conventions in the same way that she herself smashed literary and social conventions in her day.

Gatsby Redux, which uses F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby as its theatrical inspiration, is available as a full-length, site-specific performance. The evocative choreography and beautifully detailed costuming are at the same time vintage and contemporary, and can be tailored to fit your own site. It is a 1920s immersive dance experience that audiences are sure to remember. You can catch Gatsby Redux this coming October at the Muckenthaler Cultural Center in Fullerton, CA.
